Sad Anniversary, Druids at Callanish, Gnostics, Egypt Bans Da Vinci Code, Weird & Weirder

It was on this day in 1648 that the Massachusets Bay Colony carried out America's first execution for witchcraft. The victim was Margaret Jones, a healer and midwife, a profession not much respected by Boston's Puritan population. Margaret was hanged to death after patients suffered seizures she could not cure.

An Australian paper appears to confuse Paganism with pedophilia, describing a convicted sex abuser's plans to acquire victims in Ghana as "Wiccan rituals."

It's not all bad news, as the Scotsman does a very nice, illustrated write-up of Druids at the Callanish stones.
