Humane Society Bigotry, Immaculate Conception Insurance, Maybe the Devil Didn't Do It...

Wednesday June 28, 2006
What does the Rochester, NY Humane Society do when a family arrives home to find their Chihuahua beheaded? Start looking for a faith groups to blame- Santeria, Voodoo, it apparently doesn't matter. The animals discovered at the railroad tracks were almost certainly the remnant of a religious ritual, but the casual linking of a religious ceremony with the criminal murder of a family pet is unbelievably ignorant- especially for Humane Society investigators (who are usually better educated, if not entirely sympathetic to the religious practices of Santeria and other faiths of African origin who practice animal sacrifice.) There is no religion on earth wherein breaking into people's homes and murders their family pets is an acceptable practice.

A UK insurance company who specializes in unusual policies has canceled the "mother of God" policies taken out by a trio of Catholic nuns looking to cover costs associated with an infant messiah should any of them experience an immaculate conception.

On the lighter side, the Republican congressional candidate who was a little too open about the the Prince of Darkness' supposed meddling in his personal and political affairs is wishing he'd bit his tongue.

The infant Christ was not an Immaculate Conception. The term only applies to the Blessed Virgin and means that She herself was born without sin, She was conceived immaculate. The fact that she gave birth to Christ is simply that. Please take care with your terminology. The I.M. term refers only the the birth of Mary herslef. This is a often misunderstood and so, liguistically abused term.

Oh I’m sure there’s some kind of weird religion out there where killing each other’s pets is okay, don’t generalize like that.
