Satan Raises Crime Rate, Rennes-le-Chateau Controversy, Isobel Gowdie, Witch Killings

Wednesday August 23, 2006
Has the devil been a victim of bad press? According to Professor Henry Ansgar Kelly's book Satan: A Biography, the perception of Satan as evil incarnate is largely the creation of over-imaginative clergy, artists, and the like.

Speaking of Satan, Birmingham's police chief links rising crime to the Dark One's taking offense to her religious belief. If that's the case, I suggest she find an atheist- or better yet, a Satanist- to fill her superstitious shoes.

Mother Mary gets tired of trees and takes up residence in a grease tray; her son tries out another womb. Meanwhile, milk drinking deities leave none for the humans, who must drink their tea without.

Residents of the beleaguered village of Rennes-le-Chateau are up in arms over the noisy commercialization of their once quiet town- and they mean to do something about it.

The bizarre, erotically-tinged confessions of would-be witch Isobel Gowdie strikes a chord for Blondies guitarist Gary Lachman.

Witch killings are again on the rise, with three 'suspects' lynched in Kenya, with five more victims (including a fifteen year old girl) in India hacked to death.
