Governor accused of Heresy bigotry for criticizing creationism

Tuesday October 17, 2006

A Republican politician is complaining that Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer is a 'bigot' for criticizing creationists who believe the earth is only a few thousand years old. The tiff apparently began when Rep. Roger Koopman was one of a handful of people to raise hands in favor of the belief when the governor quizzed a crowd. Koopman invites further ridicule by claiming his belief is not the result of his religion, but as a result of "scientific investigation." One is tempted to ask the Representative if he avoids boat trips for fear of floating off the edge...

Families in Utah have been prosecuted both for plural legal marriages and for polyamorous relationships where no legal marriage existed. (ie, they have been jailed simply for appearing or claiming to be married.)

Catholics in Ohio are upset that some wish to support a priest wrongly convicted of a 'satanic' murder.

"Halloween has become kind of a focal point for many satanic and occultic cults" ('Occultic cults,' has a nice ring to it...)
