Angelina Fares is a young Israeli, a recent finalist in the annual "Miss Israel" beauty pageant who hoped to win the crown, which meant cash, prizes, and a modeling career. Unfortunately, Fares' background proved too much for her to overcome- she is a member of Israel's tiny Druze religious community, a small but very conservative faith which frowns on "immodesty." Fares' had the support of her family to compete, but after pictures of the young model in bathings suits began circulating, some of her male relations decided they werre, in fact, opposed to her competition. So opposed, in fact, that they decided to kill her.

Fortunately, the plot against Fares was discovered before it could be carried out, but the story still has a sad ending- Angelina has left the pageant, and now spends her time in her boarded up house, avoiding angry villagers, and her family has declined to press charges against her would-be murderers.
