Joliet Police Commit Race Crime?

Thursday April 12, 2007
SALDEF, a Sikh advocacy group, reports an episode chilling ignorance and brutality, not to menbtion an enourmous abuse of the public trust. Kuldip Singh Nag is a Sikh American, a decorated Gulf War veteran- and now, a victim of ignorance. Mr. Singh Nag, a resident of Joliet, Illinois, was at home with his wife when a local police officer came to his door to inquire about a van with expired tags parked in his driveway. When the officer demanded the van be removed from the driveway, Mr. Singh Nag attempted to argue, and the officer reportedly responded by unleashing a string of racial slurs, and beating the man badly enough to put him in the hospital for five days.

Scenes like this are becoming more and more common, and it is more and more disturbing. Hate crimes are especially heinous.

In Anderson, CA, a small town in northern CA, a brand new, not even opened yet, Sikh temple was rammed by a drunk on drugs who stole a piece of construction equipment…a 25-ton front-end loader…and smashed it into the building. It’s very sad since the Sikh are one of the most peace-oriented faiths on the planet.

They repaired the temple, and are having their opening tomorrow, “April 13, the traditional date that celebrates the founding of the Sikh faith and harvest season, called Baisakhi Day…”

There will be an open house for the community. I hope to get there. :-)

If you want to see the story about the temple in Anderson, here’s the url:

Your story couldn’t be more wrong. Even the local paper got it more accurate than you did. The officer defended himself from the attack of a trained military man.

Interesting you would say that, “Dave”- I’ve read nine versions of this story, and i don’t recall any were sympathetic to the officer, who, as I recall, was fairly new on the job. The ‘trianed military man’ was a fifty year-old matched against a (ahem) trained police officer.

This is over now, it never actually happened, it turns out this guy never did it. Show what some people are like, you people automatically accuse the cop, though he did nothing wrong. The man assaulted the cop so the cop used fought back and arrested the man. Also, I think I heard the guy lied about his service, he was in the navy but the whole “bronze star” recipient thing is made up. I also happen to know the cop and he is the most kind person you could ever meet. The worst part of all is that no one made an appology to the cop, people say he is still guilty yet the accusor admitted that he lied about being beatin.

“People” accuse the officer because he is so described in news reports. I do not see a shred of corroboration for your version of events. Is there a public record of any kind that attests to this? I’d be happy to post it.
