What Topic Is Most Interesting To You?

Thursday March 19, 2009
The below poll asks which of the religions currently covered here do you find the most interesting to read about. I don't mean which you you be most likely to follow or approve of, merely which you like to study.

(1) Msgr. Scott Rassbach says:

I’d love to see some coverage of Gnosticism, as there are things going on academically and religiously. Thanks.

None of these.

(3) Cindy-Lou Who says:

One ancient religion, one cult, one fake religion, one ancient religion, and two actual ‘alternative religions.” What a choice.

(4) Catherine Beyer says:

Gnosticism is on my list of topics to eventually get to, but it’s a very long list at the moment, which is both good and bad. I’ll be writing for a long time to come, but it’s going to take some time for me to address all the main points that I (and other readers) would like.

(5) Grimmy says:

None of these are very interesting at all to me. Scientology is in the news so much it’s overdone. Your article on Rastafarianism was informative, but it’s not a topic I lay awake at nights over. I’d like to learn more about all the various flavors of Buddhism, Daoism, Islam, Native American spirituality, Santeria, elements of native religion within Catholicism (I have devout Catholic hispanic friends that maintain altars to various saints, such as leaving water and grass for St. Martin’s horse when looking for a job!) And of course, articles about religious intolerance, persecution, interfaith meetings, are always interesting!

(6) Greenman says:

I like this news letter but I have to agree with Grimmy. I suppose there are a lot of non-Christian, non-Traditional Religions. I’d like some in depth information about aboriginal beliefs (Australian & American), synchronistic religions, and even newly created religions. I think an interesting survey would be to make a longer list of religions covered (including traditional religions) and then ask us if we identify with any particular one.

(7) Persephone says:

I voted Baha’i, but, of the choices given, I also find Zoroastrianism very interesting.

I’d like more information on some of the really ancient religions that are being revived, such as the Greek and Egyptian. Also, some female traditions would be interesting.

(15) Catherine Beyer says:

Because I have finite time for an almost infinite number of alternative religions. Theistic Satanism will eventually get a place here alongside a long list of other religions I have on my “things to do” list. In the meantime, you might want to share your your knowledge here or start a discussion in the forum!

Gnosticism, religious history particularly how Jesus is not any new idea with relation to virgin birth, resurrection, miracles etc. Also new age trends, hermeticism, and islam.

Thanks.
