2012: Can the End be Near?

Monday November 9, 2009

For all of you tired of the 2012 hysteria, try pointing the next panicked individual in the direction of this National Geographic article, which addresses several of the common claims involved in this mad rumor.

The article doesn't address the issue of Nostradamus predicting 2012, nor does it touch upon claims of Biblical prophecy. For these, I challenge people to actually find a quote from either source that actually mentions 2012. (You can also read more on the ludicrousness of Nostradamus theories over at Paranormal Phenomena.)

While I do not believe much will happen that day either, that article was not all that thorough. When they dismiss the “galactic alignment”, they casually “forget” to mention that around that time Earth will complete one rotation on its wobble. Our axis will be pointed directly toward the sun, which does line up every winter solstice with “the center of the Milky Way”.

They also only try to debunk some of these new. hysterical theories while not even touching on the things people have been discussing for quite some time now. Like the I Ching and the timewave hypothesis, the Webbot program, and decreasing magnetism in the past decades.

I realize this article is trying to curb people’s hysteria, but they left out interesting bits of information that have had many scientists “scratching their heads”. It was biased.

Personally as most of the people I’ve discussed this with are Witches or Wiccans or Pagans we believe the catastrophe is not at all warranted but that it is the alignment of the planets as discussed by astrologers and that it is the beginning of a new world in the essence of those finally awakening to the call of their spirituality, be it however they choose to follow it.

I think they hit it pretty much dead on. There is nothing pointing to 2012 being any different than any other year, certainly nothing that would indicate a cataclysmic end of time!
No alignment of stellar objects, no matter how wide spread, has any affect on the objects in question. Look at the numerous alignments in our own solar system. The simple fact is that a group of magnets turned to align does not extend their fields. This is true of all magnets regardless of their size.

I don’t see any rational thought to indicate that 2012 will be any more of a disaster than Y2K.

Just another hysteria. 2000 all over again. Can’t wait until we get to when Newton predicted the world would end (based on the Bible of course).

Very interesting comments, as a matter of fact even more interesting than the article itself. 2012 is merely the date in which the guardians of this planet will change. As a result, it is the beginning of a new world order, so to speak. how it affects the average dweller on this planet is up to the individual spark and what stage it is in its own evolution. Namaste
