Wikileaks offers a variety of Scientology documents not previously seen on the Internet. included in their collection is a six page contract which one has to sign in order to participate in Scientology religious services.
Almost as interesting as the document is the description given of it. For example, one of the reasons given for the importance of this document is "it demonstrates the control [the Church] exerts on its members." Certainly there are a lot of expectations in this contract. On the other hand, it's spelled out in a contract. If you sign this thing, you should have a decent picture of what you're getting into. One of the clauses flat out says, for example, that the member will not sue the Church, and if they do, "I intend for the submission of this Contract to the presiding judicial officer to be a complete and sufficient basis for the immediate dismissal of any and all such proceedings."
So...you've been warned. In black and white.

It is NOT a church it is a sect..a church believes in the holy trinity a sect does not.
Michelle, that is the strangest, most … pulled-out-of-the-butt definition I’ve ever heard. Make no mistake, I don’t believe in scientology, but your definition is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.
Yes, sjgeekboy is right.
This is unfortunately NOT definition of a church.
Anyway, we ALL know that scientology is sick and dangerous as hell… Nobody with good mental health would sign up there.
It’s not a sect, it’s a cult. It’s main goal is to drain money from millions to make themselves powerful. Power and money is their goal. They’ve destroyed families, killed people by lack of treatment, and drive people to kill themselves through depression after their money and lives have been drained dry.
Y’know, you guys say cult like it’s a bad thing. Talk about brainwashing… basically a cult is any religion not lined up with the status quo of acceptable religions. According to many people, Jehovah’s Witnesses are a cult. Some christians might call 7th Day Adventists a cult. It’s just a word. I wouldn’t say scienos fit any one particular definition better than the other, as religion/sect/cult are so interchangeable depending on POV. It is a bit telling that it is run like a corporation, though the largest religions tend to do so, it IS kinda hard to do things for the betterment of mankind when everything has to go through committee. Oh and thetans am people too! Stop ‘blowing’ them you sick sunsabitches!
Cult: is a group of followers devoted to a person (i.e. L. Ron Hubbard) Scientology qualifies.
Religion: a system of beliefs in a divine or superhuman power or powers to be obeyed and worshiped as the creator (s) and Ruler (s) of the Universe. I’m not sure if Scientology Qualifies.
Sect: a faction of a religious denomination. Scientology does not qualify.

The problem with that definition of religion is that it excludes many things commonly described as religion. Buddhism, Taoism and LaVeyan Satanism do not require belief in any superior being, much less a creator. Other religions have supernatural beings but don’t necessarily attribute the creation of the universe to them.
You’re all forgetting something. All of these religions, sects, cults have something in common.
They’re all bullshit. Wake up sheep.
The people who join the church of Scientology deserve all the misfortune they incur with their financial and emotional health. Who in their right sensible mind is going to believe that a science fiction writer is in someway a holder of ancient knowledge as to the history of the universe and to the causes for human suffering on earth. Simple minded people will always fall pray to a vicious predators of one form or another its just a matter of time. What is difficult to except for all of us who are free from suck evident ignorance is the idea that someone could succumb to such sheer stupidity.
