Scientology and the End of TomKat

Follow me on:

With the divorce of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, Scientology has once more been brought up in mass media.  But it's interesting to read the articles on the subject.  A lot of them claim that Scientology was a major reason for the break up.  Where does that claim come from?  Not Tom, who insists that statement is untrue.  Not the Church, which refuses to comment.   Not Katie, who hasn't spoken on the matter to the best of my knowledge.  Not her family either.

Such statement are normally credited to "experts on Scientology," who state they fully expect that was an issue.  Another common source is "a source close to the couple."  What the heck does that mean?

I'm certainly not claiming that Scientology was not a sticking point.  I'm simply pointing out that a lot of the media around the subject is working off conjecture and rumor.

But the fact is people are once again asking for more information about Scientology.  In that context I present two new articles: The ARC Triangle and the FreeZoners.  Older articles are the topic of Scientology can be found here.

I still just find it baffling why their break up is anyone else’s business. Reporters like to grab a situation and put the most sensationalist, negative spin on it that they can think of.
