My studies often place me in a rather nebulous space between religion and magic. Their interactions are complex. Sometimes they have nothing to do with each other, but other times magic at the very least draws on religious imagery and worldview.
To further complicate matters, people tend to treat all magical practices as the same (in part because so many people simply consider all of it to be superstitious and wrong). In fact, different magical practices can look and function vastly different from one another. To help sort some of these out, I've created an article addressing various different types of magic, including a new article on folk magic. I'm planning on adding chaos magic soon.
