The Internet is a scary and bizarre place sometimes. One of the things I stumble into again and again are people attempting to gain acceptance for their faith but going about it totally wrong.
Don't throw your faith into other people's face, and if you do, don't be surprised when they throw back. Don't start a debate but refuse to finish it. Don't make a scene and then complain when some of the attention is negative.
Some people face real persecution concerning their religion. And, honestly, I think their plight is cheapened by the attention seekers. But it's not just attention-seekers (who probably aren't reading this anyway). People do seem to be a little lost about how to interact with the wider world once they've embraced a minority faith, particularly a new religious movement. So here are some tips on how to be taken seriously as a believer in an alternative religion.
