Every time a new book concerning Scientology comes out, drama follows it. You can set your clock to it. And while many people insist the Church of Scientology's negative reaction only underscores that they are hiding something, I am not sure what else one would expect a church to do when books are published accusing them of multiple breaches of law including blackmail, false imprisonment, abuse, child endangerment and even slavery.
The newest book is Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood & the Prison of Belief. I haven't read it yet, having just heard about it today, but with a title like that I'm not expecting accolades for the Church of Scientology.
CNN attempted to reach out to the Church is regards to claims in the book and has published online the Church's response to said request. They can be found here. It seems to be mostly same old, same old on both sides. Same general allegations and same retorts from the Church.
