A hairstylist dressed as Jesus drenched himself in fake blood and mounted a 14-foot cross to attract attention to his hair salon.

"You have to do things to shock people," Patrick Conaty said.

Thirty minutes after he began the stunt in the north Alabama town of Leeds, police ordered him to come down.

Contay mounted the cross Monday in front of his Running With Scissors salon. He wore a dark wig, a crown of thorns and a stain-spattered shirt.
