Shinto ban on women, A Scanner Darkly, Wiccans not Tax Exempt

It's taken Japan a long time to decide whether gender equity is worth offending the Mountain Goddess. An old Shinto tradition that prevented women from entering mines is finally being excised from Japanese law.

A Wiccan religious group is being forced to pay taxes on religious materials because they don't worship in a particular building.
