Da Vinci Code Movie, Black Metal Ban, Kumari Tear-gassed?

Monday January 23, 2006

Despite vigorous opposition from the Catholic Church (and attempts to get the movie an adults-only rating), the Da Vinci Code Movie is set to open the Cannes film festival- that is, if legal troubles don't get in the way.

Malaysian Muslims are now forbidden by fatwa to listen to Black Metal, deeming it Satanic. Laws to follow will make it an offense punishable by law.

Was the "living goddess" of Nepal tear-gassed? Villagers who live near the child-goddess' temple fear she may have been caught in gas clouds from teargas cannisters fired at nearby rioters. The Kumari's tears are considered a bad omen.
