Smithy's Code, Seeing is Believing, Mary Magdalen, Vampire?

Thursday April 27, 2006
Here's another odd newspaper profile of a young Wiccan who doesn't want to be called a witch- So they call her a 'sorceress' instead. I'm also curious to know what this reporter thinks a "pagan style ritual" is?

Here's a much better thought out venture into alternative faiths: a respectful look at a Spiritualist Church in Columbus, Ohio.

More details are out on the coded message Justice Peter Smith wove into his decision on the Da Vinci Code plagiarism trial. I can't help wondering when his book will, be out...and whether this isn't a bit unprofessional- nothing says "impartial" like an ovious display of fandom. You can take a crack at the code yourself with this (PDF) copy of the ruling.

Now, I thought I'd seen every possible take on the Mary Magdalen story by now- but I was so wrong. How about, Mary Magdalen, vampire? Looking back, this was probably inevitable.

I wrote my very first term paper on the Tuatara, the weird prehistoric creature that posseses a third eye on the top of its head. In Seeing is Believing, Mukul Sharma explores the connection between this oddity and the human pituitary gland, referred to in mystical literature as the 'third eye.' Interesting stuff.
