Pastor Fired for Witchcraft, Grilled Mary Tattoo, 666, Da Vinci Code Freakout

Sunday June 4, 2006

A police officer in Nashville was sent to a training class in which she was informed that her Seventh-Day Adventist faith was a "dangerous cult." An officer in Utah is fighting for her job after being fired when it was revealed she had taken peyote in the course of a Native American religious ceremony, a constitutionally protected act.

In a much stranger suit, a Lutheran Pastor is suing after he was fired from his post at an Ohio church- on an accusation he was practicing witchcraft. A church official fired Reverend Mark Musser after making public accusations of spell casting, and locked the pastor out of his church.

A Florida man is battling to keep his "Atheist" license plate, which the state deems obscene.

A Russian politician is in hot water for forcing subordinates to take Scientology courses- and using government money to pay for it. (See also: Scientology)

The woman who sold her grilled cheese sandwich with an image of the Virgin Mary is having the image of the infamous san dwich tattooed on her chest. Yikes.

The real "day of the Beast" came and went a few days ago...but that hasn't stopped the freak-out. More silliness.

Pakistan has made their Da Vinci Code ban official. Threats of violence against theaters from Indian Christians has resulted in another Da Vinci Code ban, this time in Goa. If reading about the "Anti-blasphemous Action Front" doesn't bring a smirk to your face, try this frothing screed in the Washinton Times that accuses Code author Dan Brown of making a deliberate attack on the Catholic Church.

A Christian believer explains his decision to appear as an extra in the movie.
