Asatru or Klingon?

Thursday July 27, 2006
The novelty of a Pagan about to be executed for a religiously inspired crime is just too much for reporters to resist. Michael Lenz will most likely be executed tonight by lethal injection for the murder of a fellow inmate and co-religionist. Unfortunately, in their eagerness to run with the story, most outlets have conjured up a fairly distorted view of the Asatru religion. If one didn't know better, one might get the impression that Asatru is in essence a sort of white-power version of the Klingon religion, rather than the peaceful (and definitely non-racist) Pagan faith that it is.

The mayor of a drought stricken West Texas town has an unusual solution in mind: pray for rain.

I'm not positive, but I think it's a pretty good bet this is the first-ever media mention of the Enochian language...and it's just as bizarre a story as you might expect to see such a reference in.
