No cure for foot-in-mouth (Maybe Kabbalah Water?)

Friday September 1, 2006

After making a few ill-considered (even for the Bible belt) remarks about religion in an interview with a Baptist publication, Florida Senatorial candidate Kathleen Harris is desperately backpedalling, but it's only making things worse:

"My rallying cry has always been people of all faiths should be involved."
Yes, apparently Harris believes that people of all faiths should be involved in exclusively electing Christians to office.

But when we do it, it isn't terrorism

An Anglican cleric is in the hotseat as well, after reminding Christians that they, too, have 'terrorists' in their family tree.

Toxic magic

The EPA reiterates its concerns over the use of toxic mercury in Santeria and related faiths.

Maybe he read it, "Under the water?"

A christian evangelist convinced he could walk on water in emulation of Jesus desperately backpedalling, but it's only making things worse:">discovered the hard way that he had overestimated his miracleworking abilities. Pastor Franck Kabele waded into the ocean until the water was over his head and was not seen again.

Rabbi Crockett?

An charismatic Oregon "Rabbi" leaves his Christian congregation with a bad taste in their mouths. I'm finding it a little hard to feel sorry for folks who accepted a Rabbi named "Crockett" without question.

Possessed, Part Two

The Vatican's Exorcist-in-chief declares Harry Potter the spawn of Satan. Have I missed something, or are the italian editions a bit darker?

Thomas Kinkaide, the kitschy painter who markets pictures of glowing cottages and cozy Christian scenes, is being investigated by the FBI.

Da Vinci Plagiarism, Episode four

Here we go again: Jack Dunn, author of the Opus Dei thriller The Vatican Boys, is suing Dan Brown for plagiarism. Dunn claims that significant portions of text from his novel appears in the code, and that many plot points are similar.

More Da Vinci Miscellany

The Scotsman (where else?) delves once again into the mystery of Rosslyn Chapel, and Michael Domoretsky discusses his unique theories about Leonardo's secrets with the Salem News. See also: The Drawings of a Master
