Mrs. Mallory Speaks
Tuesday January 30, 2007
Laura Mallory, the mother whose crusade to take Harry potter books off library shelves has made her a world-wide target of ridicule, is a fraid she's being misunderstood- so she defends her mission in her own words to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution:
"Not only is witchcraft a real religion, subtly intriguing and luring our children and teens in unprecedented numbers, but it is also a dangerous one, often leaving its followers in darkness, depression and even suicidal."Go ahead, laugh- but it's true, because-
"This was verified by a teenager from Lawrenceville and Mrs. Marsha McWhorter, a registered nurse and certified marriage and family therapist."That's some evidence!
Ms. Mallory's website also has a nice collection of anti-witchcraft quotes from the bible.

Laura Mallory may make you feel like laughing, but is she really part of an “alternative religion”?
If not, this post may be better suited for another section of about.com.
I went to this site and found it offensive, and it got my blood to boil on the first page they quote love and peace and on another kill witches. Christ insanity needs to pick a stance do they love witches with Christ love or want them dead and burning in there hell. it is rather ironic that they show a symbol of sword a little magick maybe well I left a long message for them basically venting I left my email to see if they would have the orbs to write me back.
Yes, Christianity IS an alternative religion. Just because it’s the most popular doesn’t make it the right or proper.

Jonathan….Laura Mallory is speaking about witches, and many practitioners of alternative religions are witches. It’s a good thing to be aware of attacks on one’s belief system so that you may defend yourself if you choose.
Has this woman ever heard of separation of church and state?
It still amazes me that the gung-ho “Christians” who preach against Harry Potter and all forms of “magic” believe they are dangerous and evil. Real witches and people believe in magic don’t believe in the devil so they can’t be using “his” power. So who is it that believes so strongly in the power of evil and the devil? Why, yes, it is the Christians that preach against it–they give it more energy and attention because they actually believe in evil and the devil. And I am really sick of bigoted people preaching against anything or in favor of their own viewpoints and attributing it to the Divinity. God is not prejuduced and condemns no one. Jesus preached love and forgiveness at least and I would like to think tolerance too. So, Mrs. Mallory and other evil-worshippers, take a flying leap.
Paganism celebrates life and is the oldest religion in the world. Noone killed over religion until monotheism came along. Murdering people for there beliefs is evil- no matter what any book says
Went to see that person web site… Curious though that one can so arbitrarily see ill-omened content in the harmless Harry Potter’s novels! I guess that person still hasn’t got the meaning of fantasy or fiction! What about Star Wars, Dragonheart, Merlin, Dungeons and Dragons, Excalibur, etc? All those movies have mystical aspects or depict use of magical abilities and/or spells in one way or another.
While visiting that web site I came across some bible’s citations. Despite that I’ve been born in a catholic family and raised as such; I’m not the most familiar with the bible’s scriptures. But, from time to time I happen to stumble on some parts of it… so I read.
The more I live and become aware of how our world really is, the more I reasonably doubt the existence of any kind of deity.
I also doubt that this will be published because of my rather “insurgent” conclusions…
Isn’t it amazing how condemnatory, pessimistic, discriminating, irrefutably ominous and somewhat belligerent is the bible on many levels, while hypothetically preaching unconditional love for thy neighbor?
A splendidly limited envision of our world and the surrounding universe, bundled with monotheists dreadful views.
What stands out the most is the fact that believers/worshipers give way to much credit to a sinister entity they call the devil. Something that, to me, is opposed to a monotheist frame of belief because such imply that there are in fact two gods… one of good and one of evil. As a reasonable entity I can not reconcile with such inconsistent notions.
Sorry to burst them idealists bubbles, but it appears to me that the self proclaimed “deity” depictured in the bible is quite vindictive, cruel and singularly irresponsible for his own mistakes. Evolution of sentient species involves a process which has and will always include inaccuracies, miscalculations, tries, errors and successes. The human specie is supposedly divine in origin, although concretely having no other recourse but to rely on itself to evolve in the “right” way… while believing in and living by “the rules” of a presumed creator that superbly stand out by its absence! An allegedly omnipotent deity that obviously doesn’t do much of those all mighty capabilities… relying on us, frail humans, and our limited abilities to do most of the work and realization of whatever need’s to be done to survive and progress toward a better state of being.
Wow! Praise the lord!
