Is God laughing? I'm Not.

There are literally hundreds of pundits and talking heads in 24-hour rotation laying blame for the Virginia tech massacre on a multitude of causes, from gun control (or lack thereof) to the usual indictments of violent videogames and movies, the media, etc., but Craige McMillan of WorldNetDaily distinguishes himself for callousness with his very own Jerry Falwell moment. McMillan is another subscriber to the "God is punishing us" dogma, the idea that his God, furious that his rules against "pedophilia, homosexual couplings and adulterous behavior" strikes out and slaughters dozens of innocent people. What's even more chilling is Craige's visualization of God's supposed actions:
"God's reaction to mankind's attempt to free itself from His rule is hilarious laughter!"This man's belief system is apparently so skewed that he visualizes a God who more resembles the maniacal killer (who was also punishing his victims for their 'sins') than the Jesus that this man claims to follow: "They're not paying attention to me, so I will kill them all- that will get their attention." McMillan is right, there is a sickness in society. He's just wrong about the cause.
Update: The foot-in-mouth American Family Association claims god lets school shootings [video link] happen because we banned school prayer, spankings, etc. A response can be see here.

I wondered how long it would take some “man of god” to step in and make this claim. I fully expected it to be Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell - not this brainless twit.
Flippin’ idiot.
Oops. I missed the Falwell mp3.
Guess I was right after all.
“Unidentified gunmen have killed 23 people in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, police said.
All the victims were said to be members of the Yazidi religious minority which follows a pre-Islamic religion and worships an angel figure… that some Muslims and Christians consider the devil.”

I think A Course in Miracles says that mankind created the world (some think that means the physical Earth, even all physically manifestations, I don’t agree) to “hide” from God, and now it is our job as the Son of God, his creation and his children, to find our way back to God. Even in Unity we believe that Adam stepped out of the Garden of Eden (symbolically) and put on “skins” rather interpreted as manifesting the physical realm or percertion of same, when he decided to “separate” from his creator )of which he is still, of course, a part) and “put on skin.” Anyway, these mythological theories are meant to get us closer to an expression of our spiritual nature, so multi-theories are just one way of explaining a “mystery.”
Yes, he’s quite wrong about the cause, since its people like him who makes the world what it is. Luckily Nietszche declared his God for dead - now we’re just messing with the funeral - let’s hope it’s quick and without too much noise.
Oh, boy…I got a message like this in my email from a friend of mine, one of these “You must read this if you care about our country” things that tells you to forward it to all your friends. It had the father of a Columbine HS victim telling Congress these school shootings are happening because we’ve turned away from God, and that really made my blood boil.
Here is how I responded:
I know this is an emotionally charged subject, but to tell the truth I don’t think it was the result of God being taken out of the schools.
It happened partly because parents are too wrapped up in themselves to pay attention to their kids.
Mostly, it happened because we and our children are filled daily with herbicides, pesticides, air pollution, water pollution; there are carcinogens in our cupboards, our carpets, our soap, shampoo and deodorants.
It happened because the FDA in their infinite wisdom has left gaping loopholes so that growers, producers, and manufacturers do not have to reveal the toxicity of our products.
Meat packers do not have to reveal that the beef has been treated with carbon monoxide (yes, the same as car exhaust gasses) to keep it looking red and fresh; that the meat is already filled with enough antibiotics to allow for the formation of “superbug” infections that won’t respond to ordinary treatment;
MSG can be called by another name and keep its presence in your food unrevealed;
washing machine manufacturers can pepper your clothing with silver nanoparticles (that keeps your clothing smelling fresh for 30 days!) and kill bacteria while it kills you because it’s a Highly Toxic disinfectant but if the company doesn’t explicitly say the machine “kills bacteria,” they don’t have to tell you the toxic chemicals are in the machine;
mercury (or some derivative thereof) - a Highly Toxic Substance - was used (and may still be in use) as a preservative in children’s vaccinations - this has been linked to the fact that 1:166 children develop autism (some agencies believe the number is closer to 1:150);
kitchen cupboards or other wood products made of pressed wood exude formaldehyde.
The worse thing is, the more we make airtight, energy-efficient homes and offices, the more concentrated is our exposure to these toxic chemicals.
The list goes on, but you get the picture. Before we worry about getting God back in the schools, let’s worry about getting the poison out of our food, clothing, and shelter….we are slowly killing ourselves and our children. (And using prescription drugs to cover the symptoms!)
If you look back, you will notice that things like this almost never happened before “better living through chemistry.”
Also, events like this seldom happened before death, destruction, and brutality became “entertainment” on prime-time tv and in video games.
