"I'm Not Making This Up." (Someone Else Did)

So repeated the “Fox & Friends” morning show anchor as he reported with faux outrage that a middle school suspended a student for placing a ham sandwich in proximity to Muslim students. The segment, which played numerous times before being yanked, included a "ham response squad" and the quote "Children need to learn that ham is not a toy."

There was a grain of truth to the story- a school child last week did get in trouble for intentionally teasing Muslim students with a ham-steak, but the over-the-top liberal response version that made Fox salivate was concocted as a parody by a writer at Associated Content: a student is charged with a hate crime for leaving his lunch on a table near Muslims, requiring the formation of the It is clearly a parody, except to those few who really, really, wanted to believe it.

What's even more disturbing is the school named in the story received hundreds of nasty emails, phone calls, and profanity-laced threats from Fox viewers.
