I just love how in one they look at the Pentacle, then its reverse for Satanism and say its the same thing, just upside down. Um, the cross can be used the same way! (Even though an inverted cross was the representation of St. Peter, it has another meaning in some Satanist groups). Look who’s calling the kettle black.

Commenting on the yoga story…actually, I think I saw this page when doing a search on Yoga one time…

First, anyone who doesn’t know the true foundation of yoga needs a new yoga teacher. Yoga is, first and foremost, a spiritual practice developed for the purpose of aligning body and spirit, the physical with the non-physical.

If your yoga instructor didn’t tell you that, shame on the instructor…they are failing to tell you about the best part of the practice!

If you are of a faith or spiritual tradition that detests the physical body, then yoga and qigong are Not for you. If you want to integrate your physical and non-physical aspects, look for a yoga or qigong class…you will be glad you did!

The emptying of the mind in yoga and qigong refers to “monkey mind,” that idle chatter that constantly runs through your head. When you “empty” your mind, you are observing silence, and are opening to messages from the Divine (God, if you like). Just as Ms. Wills seeks to hear the word of God, she would do well to practice yoga, not trash it.

Interesting that she mentions the Corpse Pose and the Snake Pose…horrible symbolism. I guess there wasn’t anything objectionable in the Mountain Pose or Downward Facing Dog. You find what you look for, Ms Wills.

She claims that the Theory of Evolution is seldom called a theory outside Christian circles…. Actually, Everyone I know, Pagan, Christian, Daoist, etc, always says “the Theory of Evolution.” It’s the Theory of Quantum Physics that we seem to have turned into a reality. ;-)

Praise Moves…just another name for “use your body to meld mind-body-spirit.” It does the same thing yoga does….opens the mind to receive the message from God/Universe.

By the way, the Hindu were the first to call the body the Temple…she might want to change that comment about calling the body the “temple of the Holy Spirit” lest it somehow become tainted.

Finally…on yoga stirring tempers in a Norway prison. Yes, it probably did unblock a lot of barriers. Obviously it was being taught by someone who did not know what they were doing. Yoga and qigong are ALWAYS CONTRAINDICATED for anyone suffering or suspected of suffering any sort of mental problem because it Does expand the mind. It can make the problem worse…it is a mind-altering practice, after all, bringing the body and mind into alignment. If the mind is ill, what did they think would happen to the body?

This is why people familiar with the spiritual aspects of the practice should teach, or at least advise, so people know what to expect.

Yoga as poison? Only for the closed-minded.

Finally, what is so shocking about the meaning of Hatha Yoga? Balancing the entire nervous system must be evil….

Oh, please…..
