"Satanic" Tom Cruise Not Welcome In Germany
Tuesday June 26, 2007
Poor Tom. It's hard to like anyone who sets himself up the way he has- it seems nobody likes a preachy convert, no matter what religion they profess, and it's tough to be a Scientologist to begin with, let alone a famous proselytizing Scientologist. That being said, Germany's being just a bit too touchy about Tom's religion. It seems Cruise is aiming to make a movie based on the real-life adventures of Claus von Stauffenberg, whose botched attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler made him the most infamous bumbler of all time. The German government, however, is not too thrilled with Scientology, so Tom, Scientologist that he is, will not be allowed to film on German military bases. To add insult to injury, (or perhaps it was just a slow news day) Australia's Channel 9 dug deep into the crackpot barrel to ask self-promoting conspiracy theorist idiotMark Dice about Scientology's "Satanic connections."

Now, there is no love lost between me and Scientology (or Tom Cruise). But I find Germany’s actions rather disconcerting. I’ve been around long enough to know that when governments start discriminating between religions oppression isn’t far behind. So this year they don’t like Scientologist, next year maybe it’s Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the next year Mormons, and how long before they oppress Pagan and Jews.
When it comes right down to it I couldn’t care less what Scientologists teach. The same goes for Catholics, Protestants, or “crackpots” like Mark Dice.
