Friday Links: Don't Be Absurd

Friday August 31, 2007
Note to Worldnet- again- storybook witches are not "religion," and do not need to be balanced by bible readings.

Travelers on Vatican airlines discovered the hard way they're still subject to those silly airline restrictions on liquids. On a related note, what do you do with hundreds of little bottles of Lourdes water?

Another art controversy erupts over a burka'd Virgin Mary and a lenticular Jesus/Osama. This time, Muslim and Christian religious leaders are the voice of reason, while politicians do what politicians are wont to do.

Activists in Ohio are hell-bent on removing street signs honoring Monsignor Jerome Schmit, because he dared defend Father Gerald Robinson, improbably convicted of the Satanic ritual murder of a nun (!) more than twenty years ago.

A medicine man planning his own resurrection leaped into a river accompanied by chanting, promising to return from the spirit world in three days. After he did not reappear on schedule, followers went looking for him and discovered his decomposing corpse on the riverside.

I'm reasonably sure it's not the look that does the damage. (Via PaleoJudaica)
