Mike Huckabee's Very Personal God
Crosswalk highlights another of Huckabee's personal conmflicts, citing an episode from 1998, where Huckabee as Governor refused to sign a bill prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage for natural disasters, citing a personal objection to the legal term "acts of god" written into the bill. Huckabee's god, he argued, wouldn't commit such acts against humanity- "I refuse to walk through tornado damage and to say that what destroyed it was God and what built it back was only human beings." There is no mention of Huckabee's opinion on the cause of those many "natural disasters" attributed the that same deity in the Old testament.

I seem to remember an act of god that included a very big flood. Don’t recall him sending a construction crew to aid in the recovery efforts either.
President Huckabee… *shudder*
I second that shutter having lived in a state where he was govener in the past.
It is DANGEROUS to mix politics and religion. USA tried to keep them separate for awhile…big failure I guess. Look for more wars and an escalation of bigotry and violations of human rights/freedoms to follow. Vote these jerks out of office if possible, I know the elections are fixed but heck…we have to do something besides wait to get burned at the stake again.
If you are going to talk religion, it helps if you know God. He is is a higher authority than our Constitution and our forefathers knew that when they wrote it. The second comment about God shows that none of you apparently know about Christ being the new covenant between His Father and ourselves, thus removing God’s need to use the natural forces He created to cleanse His creation.
I would tell you how wrong you are, but I doubt you would listen. The founders may have believed in a higher power, but almost to a man they believed that God’s law was beyond human government and thus had no place in it, and that’s why they wrote an as-yet unheard of secular constitution- and that’s the way it needs to stay.
Actually, Mr.Huckabee seems to be more sincere than the rest other than Ron Paul………..
I think that it’s better to not be so judgemental……..
While I applaud this site for opening my eyes, I must also condemn this comment about Mike Huckabee. The Freemasons or the one party system that play both sides of there party is the testament of what will happen once those “streams” are cross. Check out google earth, It points towards the god of this country, the father that sits on top of the emulated pyramid.
The Freemason creed, the political compass for self government shows how to end this “Game of the GODS” and that is to cross the stream !
To cross the stream means the people must unite. The very dream that Mather Luther king had spoking that had threating this game of dividing to sway the balance of the people. The teaching of Christ has tells us how to defeat this evil in which this country that was founded on the evils of Rome, Egypt, Mayas and the Babylons.
I want someone to show me where “separation of Church and State” are in this constitution you are so vehemently “defending”. The truth is, people who say they are “defending” the constitution are usually defending their “right” to do whatever, whenever and however- which is NOT a part of the constitution. The constitution is about controlled freedoms. People who don’t believe in the sanctity of human life do not “defend” the constitution. It was the people at places like the Alamo who GAVE life away- not the Godless ones who take it away. The Bible says that “The FOOL says in his heart, there is no God….” I do not believe in forcing my faith on anyone, and to many of your surprise, I also don’t believe in the public display of the Ten Commandments. I DO however believe that we are, like it or not, a Christian nation. We ought to display the TWO Commandments that Christ spoke of, which covers and precedes any logical reasoning or religion one can fathom. As far as freedoms are concerned, many men and women have died for our freedom. Freedom is not “free”, we therefore do not have the right to do whatever, whenever or however to whomever. And if God punished New Orleans, He needs to punish me, you and everyone else- lucky America, He already punished His Son instead…… now that’s what I call real “Freedom”. So let’s all do the sensible thing and give God His due, by at least keeping His name where it belongs and without forcing our faith on other people. Now that’s what I call a real “Constitution”…… God Bless!!! Sorry, I’ll try that again so I don’t offend any of you…….. Bless!!! Man, it just ain’t the same without “God”, is it???
The Constitution is certainly NOT about “controlled freedom,” it was and is written as insurance of freedom, with the understanding that its scope to protect our natural freedoms was limited. The First Amendment guarantees seperation, and if you can’t find it, it’s because you are deliberately not looking for it, or you are accepting an apologetic interpretation that contravenes the Founder’s intent. The place for the “two commandments” you speak of, however noble, is in church.
To address your doublespeak as well- no matter how many lives are lost to the cause of liberty, does not give nayone the right to restrict liberty. the very notion that we can’t exercise it freely bacause it is dearly won is ludicrous beyond words. Liberty is liberty, not “only the liberties I approve of.’
There are five direction. Up, Down, Left, Right or center. Up is Libertarian, Right is Republican, Left is Democrats, Down is Authoritarian, centrist is the center or the solar cross. Now which side of the compass you wish to be on ?
