The Temple Church (Round Church) of London
Da Vinci Code Research Guide

The Templar "Round Church" in London. The Temple Church is actually a very old structure. It was consecrated in 1185 to serve as a chapel to the Templar headquarters in London, buuilt in the image of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, which was believed to have been erected on the site of Jesus' burial. The Church was partially destroyed by German bombs in 1941 and had to be restored. Lawyers who rented the temple after the Templar's demise coined the phrase "passing the bar" in reference to the Temple Bar, a gateway to the city located near the Church.
