Ache is from the Yoruban word for divine power. In Santeria/Lukumi and related traditions, Ache is life force. It can be released during sacrifice for the consumption of the Gods, and is spiritual power. Ache (sometimes spelled Ashe) is the power of the universe, it is accumulated and concentrated during rituals. Ashe comes in several forms, and is found in the essence of things- ashe is contained in blood, bones, breath, resins and saps, white alcohols, metals, ashes, seeds, etc.

Ashe is similar to the concept of Obeah in Vodou.

Pronunciation: Ah-shay • (noun)
