In Norse Pagan (Asatru) lore, the Aesir are the twelve principal
Gods headed by Odin, and the one
time rivals of the Vanir.
Their abode is Asgard. Gods of
the Aesir include Thor, God of thunder, Odin's son Balder, Heimdall, Freyr, The
war God Tyr, Odin's brothers Vili and Ve, and his son Vidar, who will avenge Odin's
death at Ragnarok. Goddesses
of the Aesir include Freja, a goddess of love, Odin's wife Frig, Thor's wife Sif,
and Idun, the guardian of the apples of youth.
