In
Assyrian mythology, the Annunaki (Anunu) are the firstborn
(elder) gods, who lived in the abode of Anu, the sky-god. Later, they became
the gods of the earth, and taught farming and other
skills to mankind. Later, they became the judges of the dead.
The
Annunaki may even be the ancient race of giants mentioned in the Old Testament
and apocryphal texts, who became the "fallen angels" of Judeo-Christian
mythology.
In
some New Age beliefs, the Anunaki are purported to be a race of alien immortals.
