One of the most important deities of the Egyptian
pantheon, Isis (Aset to the Egyptians) was the wife
and sister of Osirus and the mother of Horus. She was the patron of
magic, learning, love, and motherhood. The legend of Isis describes
the murder of her husband Osiris by his brother Set, his magical resurrection
achieved with the help of Isis' magic, and his rebirth as her son, Horus.
Isis was the power of the Pharoahs- Aset means "throne," and she was usually
portrayed as a throne or wearing a throne as a crown on her head. She
is also the goddess of the day, a counterpart to her sister Nephthys,
or night.
