Jain metaphysical doctrine

In the Jain religion, the doctrine of the astikayas describes the five states of non-living (ajiva) physical existance. They are:

Kala: Time
Dharma: Motion or active state
Adharma: Rest or passive state
Pudgala: Atoms or physical existence- gross material existence

Akasha: Space or aethyr
The five astikayas, (Ajiva) together with the category of living beings (Jiva- soul or spirit), make up the whole of existence, the six Dravyas (states of existence).
