In Santeria/Lukumi practice, an ebo is a ritual sacrifice to cleanse negative energy, or to 'feed' the Orishas. Ebo also refers to the ashe, or energy, released during a sacrifice.
Sacrifices include the blood of animals (eje), but are most often gifts of rum, tobacco, honey, or other substances containing ashe. Only initiates are permitted to make eje (blood) offerings.

Pronunciation: ee-bow • (noun)
