In the belief system of Palo
Mayombe, the Ensambe are the the spirits of light, associated with nisambi,
the Supreme deity. They are used for positive magick, healing, etc. Some sects
of Palo work exclusively with ensambi spirits; others, with both ensambi and
Ndoki (endoki), spirits of darkness.
