Unlike the solar calendar based Sabbat,
Wiccan and Neopagan Esbats (a corruption of the French 'esbattre,
frolic) are based on a lunar calendar. They occur thirteen
times a year on the full moon, and usually mark meeting times for covens
and ritual groups.
