The
term "Great Work" comes from the Latin of the Alchemists
for the completion of the alchemical process: The Summum Bonum (Latin,
greatest goo). In Ritual Magick, the phrase refers to the ultimate goal
of Ritual magick, union with the infinite. In Thelema, accomplishment
of the Great Work means
"knowledge and conversation" of one's Holy
Guardian Angel.
