A pentacle is a pentagram enclosed in a circle.

The pentacle is also the ritual altar tool used by Wiccans, Neopagans, and a variety of Ritual magicians to represent the element of earth. "Pentacle" in this case usually refers to the object itself, which ironically sometimes contains star shapes with more than five points, or other emblems. In this context, it has also been called a lamen (a term which later refers to a magician's personal badge or emblem) or a paten, related to the dish for the consecrated host in the Catholic Mass. "Pentacle" has also been used as a generic term for any magickal seal enclosed within a circle.

Pentacles are also the suit of earth in the Tarot deck.
