Troth is from the same Middle-English root as the word "truth." It is related to the ancient Inod-European root deru, meaning firm or solid, and from which the word "Druid" is derived.

In the Norse Heathen or Asatru faith, trith means to be true or faithful to the gods and one's kin, and often refers to an Asatru group, usually made up of smaller "kindreds." It also refers to an oath or covenant of membership.

You can read more about the Asatru faith here: Asatru

Pronunciation: oss-ott-true • (noun)
