This enigmatic character appears as a decoration on a metal bucket uncovered in the remains of a Viking ship uncovered in Oseberg, Norway, which dates to about 800 CE. Called the Oseberg Buddha because his lotus-posture pose and decorative swastikas are reminiscent of eastern designs, this character is most likely a representation of the God Thor.
