hidden from public view from half a century, was until recently attributed
to a pupil of Leonardo's,
Giovanni Rizzoli (Giampietrino). It is currently assumed
to be a painting by the Master in conjunction with one or more of his pupils.
Note
the oceanic theme and the pearl pendant, the obvious sexual overtones,
and the resemblance
to his sketch
"Angel
in the flesh."
