The Baboon. The cynocephalus or dog-headed ape plays an important part in Egyptian mythology.
In the judgment scene the baboon sits upon the standard of the scales and warns Thoth when the pointer reaches the middle of the beam. Its habit of chattering the moment the sun appeared gave it the name of "Hailer of the Dawn." The baboon with uplifted paws symbolised wisdom saluting the dawn. A companion of the moon-god Thoth, it is also associated with the sun.

The Ram was sacred to the Egyptian sun-god of Thebes, Amen-Ra, who was depicted with a ram's head. In Egypt at Hermopolis, Lycopolis and Mendes the god Pa,n and a goat were worshipped.
This is the famous Ram of Mendes, who like the Apis bull, was distinguished by certain markings.
