The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth
Anton LaVey compiled the Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth in 1967, two years before the publication of the Satanic Bible. It was originally meant for circulation only among members of the Church of Satan as it was considered "too frank and brutal for general release."
The Nine Satanic Statements
These statements are the opening words of the Satanic Bible, published in 1969 and written by Anton LaVey. They are basic principles guiding LaVeyan Satanists and LaVey's Church of Satan.
The Nine Satanic Sins
While the Church of Satan encourages individuality and the gratification of desires, it does not suggest that all actions are acceptable. The Nine Satanic Sins, published by Anton LaVey in 1987, target nine characteristics Satanists should avoid. Here they are, along with my own explanations.
Satanic Views of Life and Death
LaVeyan Satanists accept no beliefs in an afterlife. Each person comes into existence at birth and disappears at death. The period in-between one lifetime is the sum total of existence. Life is therefore something to be enjoyed to its fullest. Satanists are encouraged to embrace whatever it is that they enjoy, living full, sensual, self-indulgent lives.

Children in Satanism
Contrary to movies and urban legends, which leave some parents in fear of their children being stolen away by Satanists, members of the Church of Satan hold children in particularly high regard.
Luciferian and Satanic views of Christianity
While neither Satanists nor Luciferians follow the Biblical figures mentioned in their names, the choice of those names was very deliberate. To Satanists and Luciferians, Satan and Lucifer are symbols of enlightenment, rebellion and freedom, particularly against what they consider oppressive religious institutions, which most certainly includes Christianity.
Satanism encourages the embracing of success and triumph wherever it is found. To not do so, or to hold up the mediocre as something more than mediocre is ultimately unhelpful. As such, Satanists are unabashed elitists.
Rules and Sins in Satanism
Codes of conduct can vary tremendously from one religion to another. Sometimes they are rigid codes which members are expected to follow. Others are much more nebulous and personal. The rules of the Church of Satan are examples of the latter, and their list of sins is viewed quite differently than Christianity looks at sins.
Why Satanism Does Not Teach "Anything Goes"
Just because Satanists are avowed hedonists does not mean they teach you can do whatever you want without repercussion. Indeed, they don't even teach that everything you do is ethically permissible. Satanism is not simply a license to resist authority and social norms. It's a fully developed philosophy.
